No I am not talking about Canadian people, I am talking about Canadian USED CARS.
I received a call the other day from a gentleman who bought a late-model used car from a dealer a few miles away from us and it was originally sold as a new car in Canada. He simply wanted to know what kind of factory warranty was left on the vehicle.
Boy, were we in for a surprise!
I found out that his car had NO WARRANTY AT ALL. Apparently, there are several manufacturers who will not let their warranty cross international borders! The customer thought that he was getting a great deal but the fact is that the so-called "deal” came with a “significant risk”. The factory warranty was voided and not even good in Canada anymore!
If the car was sold as new in the United States it would have had a 3 year, 36,000-mile warranty to transfer, as it stands now he is on the hook for anything that goes wrong himself.
You need to be aware of this. Take care when looking at used cars on a dealer’s lot.
